ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Human rights and encryption

Human rights are things that every single person deserves just because they are a person! Human rights include things like the right to safety, the right to speak your mind, the right to practice your religion, and many other important things.

Encryption is like a secret code that helps keep your messages and information safe! When you use encryption, only the people who have the secret code can see what you are saying or writing. This is important because sometimes bad people or governments try to spy on what people are saying or doing.

When people use encryption to protect their information, they are protecting their human rights. Some governments or groups might try to stop people from using encryption because they want to be able to spy on them. But it is important for people to be able to protect their own information so that they can stay safe and feel free to express themselves without fear.
