Humitas

Humitas are a tasty and traditional food that comes from South America, especially from countries like Peru, Ecuador and Chile.

To make humitas, grown-ups start by peeling the leaves off of some big, green corn cobs. Then, they grind up the corn into a kind of paste. They mix the paste with some special ingredients like milk, cheese, and spices like salt and sugar.

Next, the grown-ups scoop some of the corn paste mixture into little packages made from the corn leaves they peeled earlier. They fold the leaves over the top and tie them up with a string.

Finally, they cook the humitas by boiling them in some water or even steaming them. After they cook for a while, the grown-ups take the humitas out of the pot, unwrap them from the corn leaves, and let them cool a bit.

And there you have it! Humitas are delicious snacks or side dishes that grown-ups make from corn paste and special ingredients. Yum!
