ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hybrid Kohonen self-organizing map

Okay kiddo, have you ever played with building blocks? Imagine you have a bunch of different colored blocks and you want to put them together in a way that makes sense.

Now, let's say you have a really big pile of blocks and you don't know how to sort them. You could start by putting all the red ones in one pile, and all the blue ones in another pile, and so on. But what if some of the blocks are different shades of the same color, like light blue and dark blue?

That's where a Hybrid Kohonen Self-Organizing Map comes in! It's like having a special machine that helps you sort your blocks. It's called a map because it creates a kind of grid, with different areas for different types of blocks.

The map works by comparing each block to all the other blocks and figuring out what colors are similar. It then groups the blocks together based on these similarities. So even if a block is a slightly different shade of blue, it will still be grouped together with all the other blue blocks.

But what makes the Hybrid Kohonen Self-Organizing Map special is that it can also group blocks together based on other features, like shape or size. So if you have some blocks that are really big and some blocks that are really small, the map can still sort them out into different groups.

The end result is a really neat and tidy organization of all your blocks, with each group being made up of similar blocks. And that's why a Hybrid Kohonen Self-Organizing Map is so helpful!
