ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hybrid cloud storage

Imagine you have a box where you keep all your toys. That box is your personal storage. Now imagine your friend has a bigger box where they keep not only their toys, but also their books and clothes. That is like their personal storage.

But what if your friend wants to share their books with you, or play with some of your toys? You could just bring your toys to their house or they could bring their books to your house. This is like "cloud" storage, which means you can access things from another location that is not your own storage box.

Now imagine that your friend has a bigger box but they don’t use all of it. They want to share some of that extra space with you. This is like "hybrid" cloud storage, where you can use both your personal storage box and your friend's bigger box together. You can keep some of your toys in your box, and some in their bigger box. Or you could keep all your toys in their bigger box, and just use your personal box for other things.

Hybrid cloud storage is like this - it allows you to have your own personal storage as well as use some extra space from other storage locations that are not yours, like a friend's. This way you have more space to store things and can access them from both your personal space and the shared space.
