Hyper-real religion is a type of religion that isn't based in any traditional beliefs or structures. Instead, it takes ideas, concepts and symbols from many different sources and puts them together in a way that is real and meaningful to the individual. For example, instead of believing in a single God or set of myths, a person may take part in practices that draw on different spiritual beliefs and make them part of their own unique spiritual experience. They may also use virtual reality, computer technology, and other forms of media to create spiritual experiences. In the end, the individual is able to create a personal spiritual practice that is meaningful and inspiring.
