Hyperbolic knot

Okay, so imagine you have a piece of string that you can move around and shape however you want. If you tie the string into a knot that looks like a simple circle, that's called a "torus knot." But if you move the string around a bit more, like twisting part of it one way and part of it the other way, you can make a knot that looks more like an "X." That's a hyperbolic knot!

Now, why is it called "hyperbolic?" Well, that's because the shape of the knot has a lot of curvy lines that kind of look like the shape of a hyperbola, which is a math term for a type of curve (don't worry too much about that part, just know that it looks curvy and cool). And these hyperbolic knots are really neat because they're kind of like a 3D puzzle that mathematicians can study and try to figure out all its different properties and characteristics.

So, in summary: a hyperbolic knot is a knot in a piece of string that has a lot of curvy lines that look like a hyperbola, and it's a really cool mathematical puzzle to study!
