Hyposmia

Ok kiddo, so now we're going to talk about something called hyposmia.

Smell is something that helps us enjoy life! Like when we smell our favorite foods or flowers, right? Well, sometimes people have trouble smelling things. When they can't smell things as well as they should, that's called hyposmia.

Now, there are lots of reasons why someone might have hyposmia. Sometimes it's because they have allergies, sometimes it's because they have a cold or a flu, and sometimes it's just the way they were born.

But sometimes, hyposmia can be a sign that there's something else wrong with the body too. For example, some people who have had COVID-19 have noticed that they can't smell things afterwards. This is one way that doctors can tell if someone has had COVID-19 before.

So basically, hyposmia is when someone can't smell things as well as they should be able to. But it's something that doctors can help with! They can run some tests and figure out why someone isn't smelling things well, and then they can help make it better.
