ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

I Palindrome I

Okay kiddo, so let’s talk about something called a palindrome! A palindrome is a word or sentence that is spelled the same way forwards and backwards. For example, the word “racecar” is a palindrome because if you read it backwards it still spells “racecar”!

Now, there is a really famous palindrome that uses letters and punctuation marks. It’s called “i palindrome i”, which means that it is a palindrome that starts and ends with the letter “i”.

Here’s what it looks like:

i

See how it starts and ends with the letter “i”? Pretty cool, huh?

This palindrome also has a little twist to it. If you take the middle word “palindrome” and reverse it, it still spells “palindrome”!

So that’s all there is to it, kiddo. A palindrome is a word or sentence that reads the same forwards and backwards, and “i palindrome i” is a really cool example of that!
