ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

IBM 805 Test Scoring Machine

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of a machine that can grade your test for you? That's what the IBM 805 Test Scoring Machine does!

Here’s how it works:

You take a test and bubble in the answers on a piece of paper. The IBM 805 has a special scanner that can read your bubbles and turns your test into digital information. This is like when you put a piece of paper into a copier and the copier makes a picture of it!

Once the IBM 805 has the test in digital form, it compares your answers with the correct answers (which are stored in its memory) to figure out how well you did. It then tallies up your score and gives your teacher a special report that shows your results. The teacher can use this report to help figure out how well you and your classmates understand the material.

Cool, isn't it?
