ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

ID-based cryptography

ID-based cryptography is like having a secret code that only you can use, but instead of remembering a password, you use something called your ID (identification) number.

You know how you have a name and your parents probably have your birth certificate? Well, ID-based cryptography uses a similar idea. Instead of using your name or another password, you use something unique to you, like a special number or code that only you know or have.

And just like how you need the right key to unlock a locked door, you need the right ID to open up certain messages or other secret things that are meant for you. With ID-based cryptography, only you can read or access these things, because no one else knows your special ID.

It's kind of like having your own special key that only you can use.
