ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

ISO 3166-2:PH

Okay, sweetie, do you know what a country is? It's a place where lots and lots of people live together. And, do you know what a state or province is? It's just a smaller part of a country where some people live.

Now, imagine there is a very big country called the Philippines. The Philippines has lots of states, just like how our country has different states. But sometimes people want to know which state someone is from or which state a company is based in. So, the Philippines created a special code called ISO 3166-2:PH to help them do that.

This code has two parts:

The first part is "PH," which stands for the Philippines. It's like how our country has a special code of "US."

The second part is a code for each state or province. For example, the code for Manila is "00" and the code for Cebu is "07." Whenever someone needs to know which state something belongs to in the Philippines, they just look at this code.

So, it's like a special language that helps people identify which state in the Philippines something is from. Cool, huh?
