ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

ISSN

ISSN is a special code that helps us find and identify different magazines, newspapers, and journals. It's like the magic number that we use to search for our favorite publication. Just like you have a name and a number to identify you, each publication has a name and a number to identify it. This way, we can make sure we are reading the right thing and not getting confused.

ISSN stands for International Standard Serial Number. It’s like a barcode that tells us a lot of information about a publication. It has eight numbers, and they are unique to each publication.

For example, let’s pretend you have a favorite magazine called “Fun Times”. This magazine has its own ISSN, let's say it is: 1234-5678. Whenever you want to find an article from "Fun Times," you can use its ISSN number to search for it. If you type 1234-5678 into a library database, it will quickly give you all the articles that have been published by "Fun Times".

So, ISSN is like a special code that helps us find and keep track of magazines, newspapers and journals, which makes it easier for us to read and enjoy them.
