ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Iconium

Iconium was a city a long, long time ago. It was located in what is now modern-day Turkey. People used to live in Iconium and they had their own special customs and ways of doing things.

Sometimes people would come to Iconium from other places and they would bring their own ideas and beliefs. Sometimes these ideas were different than the ideas of the people in Iconium. This caused some disagreements and arguments.

One group of people who came to Iconium were followers of Jesus. They taught that Jesus was the son of God and that people should follow his teachings. Some people in Iconium liked this idea and became followers of Jesus too.

But other people in Iconium did not like the idea of following Jesus. They thought it was wrong and they did not want anyone in their city to believe in Jesus. They tried to convince the followers of Jesus to stop believing in him, but the followers of Jesus did not want to stop.

Eventually, things became very heated in Iconium. People who believed in Jesus were afraid for their safety. They decided it was best to leave the city and go to a different place where they could practice their beliefs in peace.

So, Iconium is an important place because it is a reminder that people have different beliefs and sometimes they can't agree. It reminds us that we should be kind to others even if their beliefs are different from ours. We should respect their choices and try to find a way to peacefully coexist.
