ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Iddhipāda

Have you ever heard of "iddhipāda"? It's a big, fancy word from a language called Pali, which is used in Buddhist teachings. It word means "bases of success" - almost like a recipe for achieving good things in life.

The Buddha, who was a wise teacher, explained that there are four parts, or bases, to this recipe:

1. Chanda - This means "desire" or "motivation". You need to really want something, and put your heart into achieving it.

2. Viriya - This means "effort" or "energy". You need to work hard and put in effort towards your goal, even when it's tough.

3. Citta - This means "mind" or "consciousness". You need to be mindful of what you're doing and stay focused on your goal.

4. Vimansa - This means "investigation" or "evaluation". You need to reflect on whether what you're doing is working or not, and adjust your approach if needed.

So, by following these four bases of success, you can achieve big things in life! It's just like following a recipe to make a yummy cake - you need the right ingredients and steps to get the desired outcome.
