ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Ideal norm

Okay kiddo, let me explain to you what an ideal norm is. Imagine going to school where everyone follows the rules, that's a norm. And to be a good person in school, we follow the ideal norms.

Now, ideal norms are like really, really good rules that we should follow to be the best version of ourselves. They're like the gold standard of behavior.

For example, let's say we have a norm to always tell the truth. That's a good norm, right? Well, the ideal norm would be to not only tell the truth but to also be kind when we do it. So, if your friend has a horrible haircut, you can tell them the truth but you also need to be kind so you don't hurt their feelings.

Ideal norms are like the best version of the rules we can follow. They help us be better people and make the world a better place.
