Idiot plot

Okay kiddo, an idiot plot is when a story or movie relies on the characters acting in a way that doesn't make sense, just to keep the plot moving. It's like when you're watching a movie and you see the characters doing things that seem really silly or just don't make any sense at all, but they do it anyways just to move the story in a certain direction. It's almost like the characters are being really stupid just to make the plot work. This is called an idiot plot because it relies on the characters being idiots in order to work. Sometimes it can be kind of frustrating to watch because you can see how things could be resolved so much more easily if the characters weren't acting like idiots!
