ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Ijazah

Okay, so imagine you are taking a test in school, and when you finish the test, your teacher gives you a special piece of paper that says you did a really good job on the test. This paper is called an ijazah.

An ijazah is a certificate that you get when you study a subject and prove that you have learned it really well. It can be for things like reading the Quran, performing Islamic rituals, or learning a skill like calligraphy or carpentry.

When you get an ijazah, it means that you have shown that you understand the subject and are now qualified to teach it or pass on what you've learned to others.

So just like you might feel proud of yourself for getting a good grade on a test and getting a compliment from your teacher, getting an ijazah means that you worked hard and did a great job learning something important.
