ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Impossibility of a gambling system

Ok kiddo, let me explain to you why there is no such thing as a gambling system that guarantees you to win every time you play. Let's say you want to play a game of coin flip with a friend. You both agree that if the coin lands on heads, you win, but if it lands on tails, your friend wins.

Now, let's imagine that you come up with a brilliant plan to always win. You decide to bet on heads the first time, and if you lose, you bet twice the amount on heads again. You keep doing this until you win and then start over again with your original bet.

At first glance, your plan seems foolproof. But unfortunately, there is a flaw in it. You see, the chances of the coin landing on heads or tails are always 50/50, no matter how many times you flip it. So, even if you keep doubling your bet every time you lose, the odds of winning are the same as losing.

That's why a gambling system that promises you to win every time is impossible. All games of chance have a built-in mathematical advantage for the house, which means that in the long run, the house always wins. That's why casinos and other gambling establishments make so much money.

So, if you want to play a game of chance, remember that it's just that- a game of chance. There is no system or strategy that can guarantee you a win. The best thing you can do is to set a limit for yourself and only gamble with money that you can afford to lose.
