ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

In the beginning (phrase)

Well, a long long time ago, before there were stars and planets and oceans and people, there was nothing. It was just emptiness. But then something happened, and there was a big explosion, like a giant firework. This explosion made everything we know today, including the stars, the planets, and even us humans. Scientists call this explosion the "Big Bang." So, when we say "in the beginning," we're talking about the very start of everything, all the way back to the Big Bang. It's pretty amazing to think about!
