Indian pottery

Pottery is like playing with mud to make dishes and decorations that we can use to eat or decorate our homes. In India, people have been making pottery for thousands of years using their hands and simple tools.

First, they dig up some clay from the ground and mix it with water to make it soft and moldable. Then, they shape the clay into different things like bowls, plates, cups, and jars. They use special tools like a potter's wheel to make the clay spin around so they can shape it easier.

Once the pottery is shaped, it needs to dry out in the sun for a while so it gets hard. Then, the potter will put it in a special oven called a kiln to bake it. The kiln heats up very hot to make the pottery hard and strong.

In India, there are many different styles of pottery that come from different regions. Some are decorated with colorful paints, while others are left plain. Some have patterns and designs carved into them, while others are smooth.

People use Indian pottery for all sorts of things like serving food, storing water, and even as decorations. It's an important part of Indian culture and has been passed down from generation to generation.
