Indonesian occupation of East Timor

Okay kiddo, let me explain to you what happened during the Indonesian occupation of East Timor in a way that you will understand.

A long time ago, East Timor was a country on its own with its own people, culture and traditions. But then, Indonesia, which is another country, wanted to take control of East Timor.

So, Indonesia invaded East Timor and took control of the country. They wanted to make East Timor a part of Indonesia and make the people speak Indonesian language and follow Indonesian traditions. But the people of East Timor did not like this idea.

The people of East Timor wanted to be their own country again and have their own freedom. They did not want to be controlled by another country. But the Indonesian government did not listen to the people of East Timor and continued to occupy the country for almost 25 years.

During this time, many people were hurt and killed, and the country was not able to develop properly. Finally, after many years, the United Nations (which is like a group of countries coming together to help solve problems) helped East Timor gain its independence and become their own country again.

Now, East Timor is free and the people can live their lives the way they want to. The Indonesian occupation of East Timor is an important lesson for all countries that we should respect the sovereignty of other countries and allow them to live their lives the way they want to.
