Inductor

An inductor is like a spool of wire. It can be wrapped around a piece of metal or plastic and holds energy in its magnetic field. When electricity passes through the inductor, it creates a magnetic field. When the electricity stops, the magnetic field collapses and creates an electric current. This current can be used to do things like power a light or a motor.
