ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Infrastructure as a service

Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) is like renting a house or apartment. When you rent a house or apartment, you don't own it, but you can use the space and all the utilities that come with it. With IaaS, you rent the computers, storage space, and networking equipment that you need to run your applications from a cloud provider like Microsoft or Amazon. Instead of buying and managing the hardware yourself, you get it from the cloud provider and you pay for it monthly. Any time you need more or less space, you can easily adjust your payments and get the resources you need in minutes.
