ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Institute for Creative Technologies

Imagine going to a place where you can pretend that you're anywhere in the world or even in a different time. You can interact with people and learn from them, just like in real life! That's what the Institute for Creative Technologies (ICT) is all about!

The ICT is a place where really smart people use technology to create pretend worlds that you can go inside and learn from. They make the worlds seem so real that you feel like you are actually there! They call this "Virtual Reality."

So let's say you're learning about history in school, and you want to know what it was like to live during the civil war. You can put on a special headset and gloves that the people at the ICT made, and suddenly you'll feel like you're back in the 1860s! You'll see everything as if it's really there, and you can even talk to pretend people who are there with you.

The people at the ICT are always thinking of ways to make these pretend worlds even better. They try to make the pretend people you talk to even more like real people, and they work really hard to make the pretend world look like the real world. They also work with the Army to make sure that when soldiers train, they use pretend worlds that will help them learn how to do their jobs better.

So in summary, the ICT is a really cool place where smart people use technology to create pretend worlds that you can go inside and learn from. They work hard to make these worlds as real as possible, so you feel like you're really there!
