Integrated mangrove-shrimp aquaculture

Okay kiddo, imagine a place where there are lots of trees and there's water nearby. That's what we call a mangrove forest. In that forest, there are some special trees called mangrove trees. These trees can survive in salty water, and they're special because they have big roots that stick out of the water.

Now, imagine we take some of the water near the mangrove trees and use it to grow some shrimp. Shrimp are small sea creatures that people like to eat. We put some baby shrimp in the water, and as they grow up, they eat the food we give them and the things that live in the water naturally.

The cool thing is that the roots of the mangrove trees provide lots of places for the baby shrimp to hide, so they're protected from bigger creatures that might want to eat them. In return, the shrimp poop provides fertilizer for the mangrove trees and helps them grow better. It's like they're helping each other out!

So, this is what we call integrated mangrove-shrimp aquaculture. We're using the water from the mangrove forest to grow shrimp, and in doing so, we're helping the mangrove trees grow better too.
