ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Intellectual Reserve v. Utah Lighthouse Ministry

Okay kiddo, so there are two groups called Intellectual Reserve and Utah Lighthouse Ministry. They both have different ideas about a religion called the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (sometimes called the Mormon church). Intellectual Reserve is part of the Mormon church, and they work to protect the church's name and materials. They want people to use the church's official materials when they talk or write about the church, so people can learn the right information about it.

Utah Lighthouse Ministry is a group that doesn't agree with everything the Mormon church teaches. They want to share information they think the church might not want people to know. They also want to help people who have left the church and might feel lost or hurt.

So, in a way, Intellectual Reserve is trying to protect the church, and Utah Lighthouse Ministry is trying to share different perspectives. It's like two people who see the world differently, and they both want to explain their views to others. So, it's up to each person to decide which perspective they agree with more. Does that make sense, kiddo?
