Inter partes review

Inter partes review is like when you and your friend have a disagreement and you ask your mom to listen to both of you and decide who is right. It's kind of like that, but instead of your mom, there are judges who listen to two parties who are arguing over a patent.

A patent is a type of legal protection that gives someone the right to stop other people from making, using, or selling their invention. Sometimes, two people or companies might argue over whether a certain patent is valid - meaning it should be legally recognized - or not.

That's where inter partes review comes in. The judges in charge of these cases listen to both sides of the argument and decide whether the patent should be allowed to stand or not. To do this, they look at lots of information, like other patents or publications that might show that the invention wasn't really new or different enough to deserve its own patent.

So, inter partes review is just a way to help decide whether a patent is good or not, by having experts listen to both sides and make a fair decision.
