ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Interactive application security testing

Interactive Application Security Testing, or IAST for short, is a way to make sure that computer programs and apps are safe to use. It's like a superhero that checks for bad guys in a city.

When computer programs are written, they can sometimes have bugs or mistakes that can make them vulnerable to bad guys who want to steal important information or do bad things. IAST is like a team of superheroes who go around and find those bugs before the bad guys can use them.

A computer program is like a house. It has doors and windows that can be locked or unlocked. If a door or window is unlocked, a bad guy can come in and steal things from the house. IAST makes sure that all the doors and windows in the program are locked so that bad guys can't come in.

These superheroes also look for other tricks that bad guys might use, like pretending to be someone else or using special codes to get into the program. They make sure there are no easy ways to get in and steal things.

IAST is like a really good guard dog that protects your house from bad guys. It's important to have it because you never know when bad guys might try to break in.
