Hey there, little buddy! So, you know how there are different types of humans, right? There are the ones you see today - that's us! We're called modern humans. But, a long, long time ago, there were other types of humans that lived alongside us. These humans are called archaic humans, and they were different from us because they didn't look exactly like we do today.
Now, even though these archaic humans looked different from us, they were still pretty similar to us. In fact, they were so similar that sometimes, they would mate with modern humans to create babies. This is what we call interbreeding.
Interbreeding means that two different types of humans had babies together. These babies would have genes from both types of humans, which made them unique. Sometimes, these babies would grow up and have babies of their own with other modern or archaic humans. This means that their genes would get mixed up even more!
Nowadays, we don't really see any archaic humans around anymore. They all died out a long time ago. But, scientists can still study their bones and DNA to learn more about how they lived and how they were related to modern humans. And, because of interbreeding, some modern humans today might still have a bit of archaic human DNA in their genes! Cool, huh?
