Internal Revenue Service

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is like a big piggy bank that helps the government collect money. When grown-ups work and make money, some of that money is taken out of their paycheck and put into the piggy bank.

The IRS also makes sure people and businesses are following the rules when it comes to paying their taxes. This means that they make sure everyone is paying the right amount of money and not cheating by keeping some of their money instead of giving it to the government.

Some people get scared when they hear the letters “IRS” because they think they might get in trouble, but as long as everyone is honest and pays their fair share, everything should be okay.
