ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

International Association of Insurance Supervisors

Have you ever heard of insurance? It's like when you pay someone to protect you from bad things that might happen, like if you crash your bike or get sick. But did you know that different countries have different rules about insurance and how it works?

That's where the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) comes in. They are like the teachers who make sure all the kids in the class (all the countries) are following the same rules for insurance.

The IAIS is made up of leaders from different countries who work together to make sure everyone is playing fair with insurance. They meet up and talk about how insurance should be regulated and how to make it better for everyone. They make suggestions to each country's government about what they can do to improve insurance and how to make sure that people who use insurance are being treated fairly.

So, the IAIS is like a big group of people, from different countries, who work together to make sure that insurance protects people the same way no matter where they are in the world.
