The International Classification of Health Interventions (ICHI) is a system used to name and describe medical treatments that are used around the world. It helps make sure that everyone is talking about the same thing when it comes to different medical treatments.
By having a common language for medical treatments, ICHI helps doctors, nurses and other medical professionals agree on the treatments for patients. For example, everyone in the world can call a heart operation a “coronary artery bypass” which can then be described in ICHI as a “surgical resection of artery”.
This way, doctors or nurses from different countries can communicate with each other using ICHI to make sure they understand exactly what type of treatment a patient should get. This makes it easier for patients to get the medical treatment they need, no matter where they are.
