International Committee of the Red Cross

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an organization that helps people affected by conflicts and violence all over the world. They are like superheroes, but not with capes, they wear a red cross sign.

Think about when you get a cut, and you need a band-aid to feel better. Imagine now that the cut is a big one and you need more help than just a band-aid. That's when the ICRC comes in, they help people who have been hurt during wars, violence or natural disasters, by giving them medical care and other kinds of aid, like food, blankets, and shelter.

They also work to make sure that people who are held prisoner during wars are treated nicely and that their rights are respected. The ICRC makes sure that these prisoners get enough food, water, and medical care, and that they stay in touch with their families. They try to make sure that people who are suffering because of war, violence, or disaster get the help they need so that they can feel better.

The ICRC team is made up of helpers who come from all over the world. They are like helpers that come to your house when you need an adult to help you out. We call them "humanitarians." They are people who want to make the world a better place and are trained to provide help in very difficult situations.
