International Criminal Court and the 2003 invasion of Iraq

The International Criminal Court (ICC) is a special court set up by countries around the world to hold people responsible for committing very serious crimes (like murder, kidnapping, and torture).

The ICC looks into crimes that happened in countries that agreed to follow its laws. Iraq was not one of these countries, which means that the ICC did not have the power to look into what happened in Iraq during the 2003 invasion.
