ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

International Institute of Human Rights

The International Institute of Human Rights is a place where people from all over the world come together to learn about and protect human rights. Just like how you learn about being kind to yourself and others in school, the Institute teaches grown-ups about how all people should be treated fairly and with respect.

The Institute has experts who study laws and treaties that different countries agree to follow to protect human rights. They then teach other people about these laws and help monitor if countries are following them. Just like how your teacher makes sure that you and your classmates follow classroom rules, the Institute makes sure that countries follow their human rights rules.

The Institute also provides training and resources to help people become advocates for human rights. So, if someone sees something wrong happening in their community or country, they can use what they learned at the Institute to speak up and try to make things better.

In simple words, the International Institute of Human Rights is a special place where people work together to make sure that everyone is treated with kindness, fairness and respect, no matter where they live or who they are.
