International Society for Biosemiotic Studies is an organization that brings together people who are interested in the study of biosemiotics. Biosemiotics is the study of communication and meaning-making in the natural world, meaning how different organisms and parts of nature use signs and symbols to communicate. For example, photosynthesis uses light as a sign to tell plants to make food, and bee dances tell other bees where to find food. Through International Society for Biosemiotic Studies, scientists and scholars work together to come up with new and interesting ways to study biosemiotics and how it impacts the environment.
