ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

International Society for Knowledge Organization

Imagine you have a lot of toys and books, and you need to put them in order. You might put all the stuffed animals together, all the cars together, and all the books together. This is called organizing or categorizing.

Sometimes, we need to organize information in a lot of different languages, from all over the world. This is called knowledge organization. It's like a big library, with information sorted in a way that makes it easy to find what you're looking for.

The International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO) is a group of people who work together to make this happen. They come from lots of different countries and speak lots of different languages. They share ideas about how to organize information in a way that works for everyone.

ISKO helps people who work in libraries, museums, schools, and universities. They also help businesses, governments, and organizations that need to organize a lot of information.

By working together, ISKO helps people all over the world find the information they need, no matter where it's from.
