The International Society for Microbial Ecology, also referred to as ISME, is a group of scientists from all over the world, who are interested in studying tiny living things called microbes.
Microbes are incredibly small living things, such as bacteria, fungi, viruses, and other organisms that are too small to see with our naked eyes. However, even though they are tiny, they perform very important roles in the world around us, such as breaking down waste, producing oxygen, creating new medicines, and much more.
ISME helps these scientists to work together and share their research findings with each other. They hold conferences where researchers can present their new discoveries, talk with each other, and learn more about how microbes work. They also publish scientific papers and books, which other scientists can read to learn about new findings and techniques in the field.
By working together, these scientists can learn more about the role of microbes in our world, and how to use them to help solve problems and improve our lives in many ways.
