ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

International Standard Serial Number

International Standard Serial Numbers (ISSN) are like special codes that are used to identify magazines, newspapers, and other periodicals (publications that come out regularly). Each publication is assigned its own unique ISSN and it is like a fingerprint that makes that one like no other. ISSNs make it easier for people to keep track of which magazine, newspaper, or periodical they are reading and it also helps people who are searching for or studying these publications too.
