International Tropical Timber Organization

The International Tropical Timber Organization is a group of people from different countries that work together to make sure that the world's tropical forests are used in a way that is sustainable, or in other words, doesn't harm the environment. These forests are really important because they provide homes for animals, help to clean the air we breathe, and produce things like food and medicine.

Unfortunately, sometimes people cut down trees in these forests without thinking about the long-term consequences. This can lead to big problems, like less food for animals, more pollution in the air, and even dangerous climate changes.

The International Tropical Timber Organization tries to prevent these problems by setting rules for how forests can be used. They make sure that companies and governments that use these forests follow these rules and work in a way that doesn't harm the environment.

The organization also helps to make sure that the people who live near these forests are treated fairly and benefit from the use of the forest resources. They encourage countries to work together and share their knowledge and resources to keep tropical forests healthy and sustainable for generations to come.
