International response to the Holocaust

The Holocaust was a period of time during World War II when Nazis in Germany persecuted and killed millions of Jewish people (and other groups). During the Holocaust, many other countries watched as the Nazis treated Jewish people and other victims horribly. After World War II ended, people around the world were shocked by the crimes committed by the Nazis and started to think about ways to make sure something like this never happened again. International organizations like the United Nations were created to make sure that governments respected people's rights and kept them safe. In addition, other countries also set up laws against discrimination and hatred so that this type of mistreatment would not be allowed. Finally, countries started to come together to remember the victims of the Holocaust and to pledge to never forget what happened and to make sure it does not happen again.
