ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Interpretation of quantum mechanics

Quantum mechanics is a way of understanding how small particles like atoms, electrons, and protons work. The way we interpret quantum mechanics is that particles don't necessarily act like the normal objects we see everyday. For example, sometimes particles don't have a definite location, they can be in two places at once! Or, particles can exist as waves, and they can act like both particles and waves at the same time. This is all very hard to understand, but it helps us understand how things like atoms, electrons and protons work.
