Intravascular fluorescence

Okay kiddo, so you know that sometimes doctors need to look at our veins or blood vessels to see how well they are working right? Well, sometimes they use a special tool called an intravascular fluorescence imaging system.

This tool uses a special dye that is injected into our blood vessels through a tiny tube called a catheter. The dye has a special property called fluorescence, which means it glows when special light is shone on it.

Once the dye is inside our blood vessels, the doctor shines a special light on it and looks at the glow using a special camera. This helps the doctor see if there are any problems inside our blood vessels, like a blockage or a disease.

So, intravascular fluorescence lets doctors look inside our blood vessels to help us stay healthy!
