Intravenous bicarbonate

Ok kiddo, let's talk about intravenous bicarbonate.

Bicarbonate is a chemical that helps to balance our body's acid levels. Sometimes, when our body is too acidic, doctors may give us bicarbonate through a tiny tube in our arm called an IV.

The IV will slowly drip bicarbonate into our bloodstream to make our body less acidic. And why do we need to do that? Well, if our body becomes too acidic, it can make us feel sick or even hurt our organs.

But don't worry, if the doctor thinks you need it, they will take good care of you and make you feel better.
