ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Intrinsic safety

Intrinsic safety is a way of making sure that things don't explode or cause a fire. Imagine you have a toy that shoots out sparks. If you put that toy in a room filled with gas, it could cause a big explosion! Intrinsic safety is like a rule that says all toys have to be made so they won't cause explosions in gas-filled rooms.

This rule is made by grown-ups who look after big machines and buildings with dangerous gases. They want to make sure that everything is safe all the time, so they make sure that all the toys and machines follow the rule of intrinsic safety.

To make something intrinsically safe, they make sure it doesn't give off a spark or get too hot. They also make sure it doesn't use too much electricity or use batteries that can make it explode.

Intrinsic safety makes sure that everything is always safe, which is very important when you're around things that can be dangerous. So just remember -- intrinsic safety is like a set of rules to keep everyone safe from scary explosions!
