ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Introspection illusion

The introspection illusion is when people think they have a good idea of why they do things or why things happen, like why people like certain foods, when really they are not always sure why. It's like a trick your mind plays on you. It's like if you try to guess what other people are thinking, even though you don't know for sure. It's also like if you're trying to figure out why something happened and you feel like you know the answer, even though you don't.
