Intrusion Detection Message Exchange Format

Intrusion detection message exchange format (IDMEF) is a way of sending messages between computer systems or devices to help them identify when someone or something is trying to possibly harm the device or system. It works by sending messages with identifying details like the type of device, the time it occurred, any suspicious activity, and the kind of attack that may have been attempted. All this information helps the system or device figure out if an authorized user or a malicious hacker is attempting to access it and also lets it know if some sort of attack was attempted.
