"Iphigenia in Tauris" is a play that tells a story about a girl named Iphigenia who is trapped in a place called Tauris. She is stuck there because a long time ago, her dad did something bad and the gods got angry. They punished her dad by making him do a difficult task, which was to sacrifice Iphigenia.
But luckily, before her dad could do the bad thing, a magical deer appeared! This deer was sent by the goddess Artemis. She really liked Iphigenia and wanted to save her, so she took her away and put her in Tauris.
Now in Tauris, Iphigenia has a new job. She has to work in a big temple and help maintain it. But it's not a normal temple, it's a temple for a scary goddess named Artemis. And in this temple, people have to sacrifice anyone who comes to the temple, including Iphigenia.
Iphigenia doesn't want to die, so she is sad and scared all the time. But one day, something amazing happens. Iphigenia's brother, Orestes, and his friend Pylades, arrive in Tauris. They come to save Iphigenia!
But there's a problem. Iphigenia doesn't recognize her brother because they were separated when they were very young. So Iphigenia has to make a tough decision. She wants to save her brother, but she doesn't want to betray her duty and disobey the scary goddess Artemis.
In the end, Iphigenia decides to be brave and help her brother. She pretends to do a big sacrifice, but instead, she helps Orestes and Pylades escape. They all go back to their home in Greece, happy and safe.
So the play is all about bravery, family, and making tough choices. It shows us that even in difficult situations, we can find a way to do the right thing and protect the people we love."
