ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Iran–Israel proxy conflict

So, you know how sometimes people don't like each other and they fight? Well, Iran and Israel have been fighting for a very long time, but they don't fight directly. Instead, they use other people (called proxies) to fight for them.

It's like when you play a game of tag with your friends and you ask someone else to tag your friend for you because you can't reach them. In this conflict, Iran and Israel use other groups (like political or military groups) to fight on their behalf.

They both have different reasons for fighting each other. Iran doesn't like Israel because they feel like Israel is always trying to hurt them. Israel doesn't like Iran because they think that Iran is trying to make weapons that could be dangerous.

Because the conflict is happening through proxies, it can be complicated to keep track of who is fighting who. Sometimes, different groups will join together or switch sides, making things even more confusing.

Overall, the Iran-Israel proxy conflict is a long-standing disagreement between two countries that use other groups to fight on their behalf.
