ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Isarci

Okay kiddo, let me explain iSARCI to you like you're five.

Imagine that you have a big book full of pictures of different plants and animals. You want to find a specific picture of a cat, but you don't want to look through every single page until you find it. So what do you do instead? You use an index at the back of the book!

The iSARCI, or Improved SAR Coordination Index, is kind of like an index for finding things in the world. Only instead of finding pictures in a book, it helps people find other people or things that might need help during a disaster or emergency.

In an emergency, like a big storm or earthquake, lots of people might need help all at once. That's where the iSARCI comes in handy. It's a system that helps emergency responders, like firefighters and police officers, know where to go and what to do to help people who need it.

The iSARCI uses special computer programs and maps to help emergency responders quickly figure out the best way to reach people who need help. It can also help them find things like food and water, or even animals who might be in danger.

So, just like the index in your big book helps you find the picture of a cat quickly, the iSARCI helps emergency responders find the people and things that need help quickly too!
